Republican Rep Jim Jordan claims
Burisma executives requested Hunter Biden get “help from D.C.” to address “government pressure.” Joe Biden then threatened to withhold aide from Ukraine unless Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired, Who just happened to be investigating Burisma!
Former historian and Twitter/X maven Josh Marshall fires back:
Each level of this set of claims is a lie. These are the fake allegations that Trump pressed in his perfect call with Zelensky that led to his own impeachment.
Sadly, without giving any links to his claim, but in the ensuing commentary it appears that Marshall believes that US already knew Shokin was corrupt and were already trying to eliminate him. So Hunter Biden's claimed intervention presumably could not happen because it was not necessary (though, that is not actually disproof of the intervention...).
Responding to a WashPo article on the subject, a commenter writes:
Not only is there not a single documented official statement or memorandum from any government or even NGO calling for Shokin to be fired before Joe got that call from Dubai, every written communication on the subject from the US State Department, USAID, the EU, etc praises the progress on corruption being made by Ukraine and the SP’s office!!
